Butterflies

When I was 10 I would feel what some may term butterflies in my stomach but in reflection I see it was a processing of sorts. And at the time it didn’t feel like excitement but turmoil. When I swallowed the outside world and my own internal wisdom I altered my body.  Those butterflies felt like agonizing pangs. I was reminding myself what I was doing time and time again but instead of inquiring I found ways to numb myself. Food, relationships, exercise, alcohol, even as a chameleon it was easier to be a shadow to others than listen to my inner teacher.

How do we learn to listen to our inner knowing?  How can we trust this guidance when we can’t see anything further? How can we trust being fully in our bodies? The ony thing happening is in the now and the choice in this now affects the next now.

The image is as if you’re crossing a stream and need to place the next stone down to step. This process is like life but often we are so caught up in the past, trying to control everything and even looking into the future that we take away our biggest power - presence. Here, we can observe, notice, feel, sense where to place that next stone or like life, we can haphazardly, being ruled by anything other then presence, throw the stone and hope we get what we want.

So what’s the answers?  There is no set answer for we are all unique. The invitation is for you to explore. What does it feel like sitting in peace and quiet?  What does it feel like listening to a bird sing or the wind brushing branches?  What does it feel like to smell a flower or receive a dog’s kiss?  What does it feel like when you aren’t focused on any lack and simply noticing?  In these moments we can learn to listen to ourselves. To know ourselves in the expansiveness of All.

We don’t go from ignoring ourselves to listening in a blink of an eye. Even though it may seem that we do. There are layers, we are layers. Unfolding.

Speak to the wind, the sun, the stones, the stars, listen to the tree or the bird. They will all help you know you.  Be present with life for it truly is magical. Give yourself the gift and power of the now.

May you know your walk in love and magic.

Aho,

Susan
